Full time Psychotherapist
Welcome to My Place for Peace! My name is Briana Thatcher and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. With the extraordinary challenges facing client’s today, I aim to provide a supportive, compassionionate, empathetic and non-judgemental environment that helps to foster the therapeutic relationship and allows my clients a safe place to explore their feelings, develop healthy coping skills and take their journey towards a more healthy and empowered self and way of living. I understand how difficult it is for anyone to take the first step for care. Whether you have been struggling with a particular issue for years, or now find yourself struggling with transition, loss, or managing mood and the impact it’s having on school, work, home, relationships and daily life, I am here to help.
I received my Bachelors degree in Social Work from Centenary College and my Masters degree in Social Work from Monmouth University. I have been working at My Place for Peace since 2016 and being a psychotherapist here is one of the biggest joys of life. I have worked with all populations: children, adolescents, and adults and have experience with depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, adjustment, substance abuse, obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD, and more. I approach each session from a client-centered strengths-based perspective and by utilizing evidence-based practice such as cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, trauma focused CBT, play therapy, relaxation/mindfulness techniques, solution focused therapy, and psychoeducation.
More about me:
My husband and I are the proud fur parents of 2 kittens, Knox and Revel; and have “joint custody” with my parents of our dog Toby!
I love being outside; going hiking or boating on the lake or river. I’m always looking for another place to explore or a new adventure to go on. I am an avid traveler and hope to see as much of the world as possible!
I am a big racing fan and try to travel with my husband and family to as many different races/tracks as possible throughout the season.
When I’m not working and I’m at home, you can almost always find me cooking up some new recipe in the kitchen or with my nose in a good book; to be honest, anything on my Kindle or nightstand is absolutely for pleasure and not work related reading! I am always up to try a new genre, but have grown up loving fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal reads.
