Janene Aunger, MSW, LSW

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” ― Oscar Wilde.

Welcome to My Place for Peace. My name is Janene Aunger, and I am a Licensed Social Worker and the Client Care Coordinator at My Place for Peace.  I am a friendly, compassionate person, and I believe you are doing the best you can with the tools you have.  I have been described as warm, collaborative, and empathetic; my priority is creating a space where my clients can be themselves.  I will meet you where you are, and together, we can utilize your strengths and discover new coping strategies to help you manage your challenges. My goal as a social worker is to help you become the best version of yourself.

I believe in unconditional acceptance, and I work hard to build a safe and supportive environment during our time together. Since we are all unique and have varied life experiences, we will work on a modality that works best for you. I utilize a person-centered, strengths-based approach while using therapy techniques, including solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and various mindfulness techniques. Through curious inquiry, we will discuss your concerns, thoughts, and emotions and work as a team to help you become more at peace with yourself.

More about me:

I am a 500 hour certified yoga teacher and have specializations in prenatal and kids yoga. Yoga has done so much for me mentally and emotionally, including helping me stay true to myself. I believe in lifelong learning and can never learn enough about the body/mind/spirit connection.

I love a good podcast and cannot say enough about Tara Brach.  She is such an insightful speaker and mindfulness/meditation teacher. Her teachings have helped me become grounded and notably more grateful and compassionate with everyone around me.

I’m not going to lie; I listen to most books on audio these days as I drive around Jersey or take long walks with my adorable labradoodle Martha.  I love pretty much anything narrated by Imogen Church. I also enjoy nail-biting mysteries and historical fiction.

I can’t forget to mention my two cats Frank and George– always ready to eat a meal or provide unconditional comfort and laughs to my family.
