graduate student intern

Welcome to My Place for Peace!

My name is Kate Winseck (She/her) and I am a graduate intern here at My Place for Peace. Thank you for entering this healing space and embarking on this collaborative journey with me!

I wholeheartedly believe that we constantly evolve and grow through every relationship we seek and experience. Connections with others, whether lifelong friendships or a brief smile by a friendly passerby, can be transformative and healing. I aim to create a safe, supportive space where clients can explore how relationships influence their sense of self and well-being.

As a lifelong learner, my path has been shaped by a wide range of experiences, personal and professional, within and outside of the home. These journeys have deepened my understanding of the challenges and growth opportunities that come with major life changes—whether shifting careers, adapting to new roles, or exploring new aspects of identity.

I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Counseling at Saybrook University, an institution that embraces a humanistic approach and honors the complexity of the whole person, recognizing the richness of their diverse ideas, values, and beliefs.

In addition to counseling training, I am also a therapeutic musician and a Certified Harp Therapist. I have experienced how music, particularly the healing vibrations of the harp, can support emotional regulation, promote relaxation, and serve as a powerful non-verbal tool for expression and healing. I aspire to integrate this healing modality into the counseling relationship.

A favorite poet of mine, Mary Oliver, writes: “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life”. This is an ever evolving question that deserves to be revisited at all stages of life. I would be honored to walk alongside you in this journey.

Fun Facts about me:

When I am not playing chauffeur for my family, or tending to the people (and furry beings) in my life, you can find me reading (or listening) to all manner of books and music, enjoying nature and movement, and above all else a good intentional cup of coffee. I find bears, sharks, and turkey vultures endlessly fascinating and greatly enjoy podcasts on animal behavior!
